This place houses many potters who make idols and bommais (dolls) during Vinayaka Chathurthi, Navaratri etc.

The larger Ganapatis are from Thirupathi.

Ganapatis

An array of Ganapatis in Kosapet getting ready for the market. Ganesh Chaturthi is only a couple of days away.

Kosapet near Puraswalkam was the center for potters for many generations. Now a few potter families still carry on the profession. They specialize in small-size Pillayars. The clay for this comes from the Red Hills area.

The large Pillyars of 3 to 20 feet in height come from the Thirupathi area. Kosapet is the intermediary site for the large Ganapathis also.
