Cow & Bike

Reminds me of the old Cow & Gate tins of baby food.

Election Noose?

Noose for the citizens?
More noose?

Casuarina log barricades have been put up carelessly around the polling booth in Indira Nagar (Hindu School) with ropes hanging like a noose. Could be dangerous for two-wheeler riders and pedestrians.

World Theatre Day

Museum Theater, Egmore, Chennai

Yesterday was World Theatre Day and I happened to pass by the Museum Theatre which was the venue of many a plays by various troupes from Madras as well as from all over the world.

The structure built is the late 19th Century (1896) is a fine example of Indo-Saracenic style. Fortunately for us it has been fairly well maintained.

The Museum complex as a whole wears a totally new visitor-friendly look both inside and outside. It appears that some thought and resources have gone into it.

Golden Cover

Flowers of the Copper pod tree

During the morning walk, I came across a parked car covered with yellow flowers of the Copper pod tree (also known as Rusty Shield Bearer of Yellow Gulmohur) Botanical name:  Peltophorum pterocarpum

March past

A man walking past the murals of Indira Nagar MRTS Station wall.

The Indira Nagar MRTS station situated on the IT Expressway (OMR) now wears a new look. Street artist A-Kill and the St+Art Foundation (who were involved in the Kannagi Nagar Project also) have collaborated with the Tamil Nadu Aids Control Society to paint the walls with themes aimed at destigmatizing aids patients.

Hope Springs Eternal

Green shoots

At the peak of the pandemic, one of the trees in the Indira Nagar Park fell . The trunk was sawed off and removed. One piece of the trunk however was left behind to dry and rot. It was cut off from the roots and lanced by steel rods on the fence.

One day, the dry trunk started sprouting green shoots.

There is always hope even in the most hopeless situation.

Domino Effect

Domino effect of the pandemic?

Used motorcycles parked in front of a two-wheeler showroom, post lockdown. Didn’t the food delivery business grow during the pandemic? Are they abandoned or traded-in for new ones?

Lest we forget

Lest we forget when the lockdown started. A tear-off daily calendar on the dashboard of a taxi parked near a school since March 2020.
