Cast Iron Pulley

In the olden days, most homes had a well. To draw water from the well, there was a pulley hung from a cross beam. Coir rope was drawn through this to lower  a bucket (usually of galvanized iron) into the well and draw the water.

Now individual houses and wells are disappearing from cities. So, it was nice to see this in an old house in  the Veteran Lines of Pallavaram.
